Frequently Asked Questions
What is wayfinding and why do I need it?
Wayfinding (also called signage or orientation system) encompasses all visual elements that serve orientation in buildings and on premises: directional signs, door signs, floor plans, pictograms, directional arrows and digital information systems. Good wayfinding guides visitors intuitively to their destination, reduces inquiries to staff and conveys professionalism. Particularly important in hospitals, hotels, office buildings, shopping centers and public buildings.
How much does a wayfinding system cost?
Costs vary greatly depending on scope and material choice: Individual door signs start at CHF 80-150. A complete system for an SME or office building (20-50 signs) typically costs CHF 3,000-15,000. Large projects such as hospitals, hotels or administration buildings (100+ signs) are CHF 15,000-50,000+. We are happy to provide a detailed quote based on a site visit: +41 41 780 05 05.
What materials are suitable for wayfinding?
The choice depends on location and budget: Aluminum is lightweight, corrosion-resistant and versatile - ideal for indoor and outdoor use. Acrylic glass looks modern, elegant and can be backlit. Stainless steel is particularly robust, vandal-resistant and durable. For cost-effective solutions, Forex, Dibond or HPL panels are suitable. We advise you on the optimal material choice for your requirements.
Do you consider accessible design?
Yes, we design according to SIA 500 guidelines for barrier-free construction. This includes: Tactile elements and Braille for the visually impaired, high-contrast design (text/background), sufficient font sizes (depending on reading distance), accessible mounting heights (85-160 cm). Accessibility is often mandatory for public buildings and new construction. We advise you on the requirements.
Can existing wayfinding systems be extended?
Yes, our modular wayfinding systems are designed for expandability. When moving, renovating, with new tenants or organizational changes, individual signs can be replaced, added or repositioned. We carefully document all projects (materials, colors, fonts) so that reorders fit perfectly even after years. We can also often seamlessly extend third-party systems.
How long does a wayfinding project take?
Duration depends on scope: Small projects (10-20 signs) can be completed in 2-4 weeks. Medium projects (50-100 signs) require 4-8 weeks. For large projects with concept development, plan 2-4 months. For new construction, we integrate into the construction schedule. Express orders for individual signs or reorders are often possible within a week.
